Naoko Kinoshita is currently an associate professor for the Center of Japanese Language at Waseda University in Tokyo. She attained her Ph.D. from Waseda University. She has taught Japanese as a second language in universities, companies, and language schools in both Japan and overseas for more than 25 years. In 2015 she was awarded the Waseda e-teaching award for her part in developing learning materials for beginning learners of Japanese. In 2019 she was awarded the Grand Waseda e-teaching award for the development of Japanese pronunciation materials for second language learners and integration of those materials in her classes. Her research interests are the acquisition and teaching of second language pronunciation and the development of e-learning materials.

Kaori Sano

Kaori Sano is an Assistant Professor of Japanese Language at Waseda University. Her research spans both communities and Higher education and has focused on the reflection theory approaches to inquiry learning Japanese. She obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Ochanomizu University in Tokyo. She has over 15 years of experience teaching Japanese in both in Japan and abroad in the U.S. and Europe. She has also published textbook chapters and publications on Japanese language education.

Yukiyo HAMAKAWA

Associate Professor

Yukiyo HAMAKAWA is an Associate Professor of Japanese Language at Waseda University. She has over 20 years of experience teaching Japanese in both in Japan and abroad in Thailand. She has her Ph.D. from Saitama University in Saitama. Her work focuses on kanji education (both learning and instruction) within the field of Japanese language education. She has been involved in several books on teaching kanji and co-authoring the book on teaching letters and vocabulary.
