Cynthia Kar Yung YIU is the Clinical Professor and Associate Dean (Clinical Affairs) at the University of Hong Kong and the Course Director of HKU's Minimal Intervention Dentistry for Paediatric Patients MOOC.

Professor Yiu received a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from King’s College at the University of London, and a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Hong Kong. She is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in Dental Surgery (FHKAM) and a Fellow of the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong in the Specialty of Paediatric Dentistry (FCDSHK).

Prof Yiu has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her areas of research interest are paediatric oral health, cariology, and adhesive dentistry, Prof Yiu has published over 210 papers in international scientific journals and several book chapters. Much of her work is aimed at the prevention of dental caries and the improvement of the durability of resin-dentin bonds.

Dr Phoebe Lam, BDS (HKU), MDS (HKU), MPaed Dent (RCSEd) is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Paediatric Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Hong Kong (HKU). She is undergoing specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry in Hong Kong. As a higher trainee, she works as an honorary dental officer in the HKU Institute for Advanced Dentistry Multi-Specialty Clinic, Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital and the Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. She previously also treated patients in charitable organizations and in private practice.

Dr Lam continues to pursue PhD in HKU since 2020, and have already published a number of research articles in top dental scientific journals. Her research interests focus on preventive interventions among children and those with special needs. Her research has won the 27th International Association of Paediatric Dentistry Morita Award – Research.

Dr Lam is also passionate in promoting oral health to the less-privileged and those with special-needs. She has been actively leading and organizing service campaigns and dental outreach in Hong Kong and the developing world since 2013. Her team has won 7 HKU SERVICE 100 Fund (incorporating the Student KE Project Grant), Stephen H Y Wei Award in Paediatric Dentistry 2016, HKU KE Impact Project Funding and the first ever HKU Knowledge Exchange Excellence Award for their service projects across the globe, including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Cambodia and Uganda.

Professor LO received a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree, a Master of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in Dental Surgery (FHKAM) and a Fellow of the College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong in the Specialty of Community Dentistry (FCDSHK).

Prof LO is currently Tam Wah-Ching Professor in Dental Science and Professor and Chair of Dental Public Health​ at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong. Prof LO has extensive teaching experience at both the undergraduate and the postgraduate levels for dental students. His areas of research interest are oral epidemiology, preventive dentistry and oral healthcare services. Prof LO has published over 350 papers in international scientific journals, 10 books and 5 book chapters.

Prof. LO has published extensively on clinical trials using various topical fluoride agents in the prevention of dental caries, and the use of various agents to arrest active decay in the primary teeth of young children and root surface of permanent teeth in older adults. With his outstanding contributions to the field, he received from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Geriatric Oral Research in 2016 and also the IADR E.W. Borrow Memorial Award (for research in oral health promotion for children) in 2021.

Dr Divesh Sardana received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India and Master of Dental Surgery in Pediatric Dentistry from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh, India. Thereafter, he completed his Senior Residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the Center for Dental Education and Research (CDER), a WHO Collaborating Center for Oral Health Promotion at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He also received his MBA in Health Care Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi. Subsequently, he completed his PhD in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Hong Kong, followed by an MPH in Quantitative Methods from Harvard University. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr Divesh is currently working as a full-time faculty in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and also is an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong.

Dr Divesh Sardana has extensive teaching, research and clinical experience at dental education institutions & hospitals. He is an Adjunct Faculty at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India, and an Honorary Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong He has previously worked as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Research Assistant at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr Divesh Sardana has published over 60 papers in international scientific journals and one book chapter has on overall more than 800 citations with an H-index of 16. He is an editorial board member of BMC Oral Health and International Dental Journal. His areas of research interest are evidence-based dentistry, early carious lesions and children with special healthcare needs.

Prof Gloria Hai Ming WONG, DDS, MDSc, AdvDipPaediatrDent, PhD, MPaedDentRCSEd, MRACDS (Paed), FCDSHK (Paed Dent), FHKAM (Dental Surgery), FDSRCSEd, FDTRCSEd, is a Clinical Professor in Paediatric Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Hong Kong (HKU). She has been the Assistant Dean (Research and Innovation), and Discipline Coordinator and Undergraduate Programme Director in Paediatric Dentistry of the Faculty. She is also the Clinic Manager of Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics Clinic of the Prince Philip Dental Hospital, and the Honorary Consultant in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Surgery of the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital and the Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.

Dr Wong has served as External Reviewer for the Australian Dental Research Foundation, and Examiner for the Tri-collegiate Specialty Membership Examination in Paediatric Dentistry, UK. She is Associate Editor for BMC Pediatrics, and Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports and European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry. As the Principal Investigator, Dr Wong has procured 11 external peer-reviewed competitive research grants. She has supervised 4 Postdoctoral fellows, 21 PhD students and numerous MDS and BDS students for their research projects. These accomplishments have resulted in more than 150 international refereed papers, the 98th IADR Colgate Research in Prevention Award, the 28th IADR SEA Research Category Award, the 27th IAPD Morita Award - Research, the 22nd and 23rd SEAADE Best Poster Presentation Awards, and the first ever HKU Knowledge Exchange Excellence Award for promoting oral health in rural areas of Asia and Africa.

Dr Chu is a Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) with a demonstrated history of working in the clinical dentistry, administration and leadership, clinical and basic research, and higher education. He is the President, the Society of Preventive Dentistry of Hong Kong (2021-2023), the President, the Asia Academy of Preventive Dentistry (2021-2023), a Member, the FDI Public Health Committee (2021-2024), the Vice President, the Asian and Oceanian Federation of Conservative Dentistry (2020-2023) and the Immediate Past President, the South East Asians Association for Dental Education (2020-2022).

Dr Chu received his BDS, PDipDS, MDS and from HKU, which was ranked third by the QS world ranking for Dentistry in 2021. Dr Chu is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) and received the prestigious lifelong learning and service recognition award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr Mohammed Nadeem Bijle is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Paediatric Dentistry at the College of Dentistry, Ajman University and a Specialist Paediatric Dentist at Ajman University Medical Centre in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He holds an Honorary Assistant Professor in Paediatric Dentistry position at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is also appointed as a Distinguished Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Cariology at Saveetha Dental College & Hospitals, India.

He received his PhD in Paediatric Dentistry from the Faculty of Dentistry, HKU in 2020. Also, he received his BDS and MDS in Paedodontics & Preventive Dentistry in 2009 and 2012, respectively from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, India. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, USA and a Fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy, India Section.

Dr Bijle has a teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in Paediatric Dentistry in India, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. His areas of research interest are caries preventive strategies and paediatric oral health. Dr Bijle has published 25 papers in highly reputed international scientific journals. Dr Bijle has been awarded several research awards by HKU, IADR, and SCADA Dentsply Sirona which are highly-reputed internationally recognized institutions. For his PhD research work, Dr Bijle was awarded the 2019-20 Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student Award and L P Samaranayake Award for Research Excellence at HKU. He is currently working on several funded research projects with experts aligned globally and investigators from Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the USA.

Dr Manikandan EKAMBARAM received BDS degree from India, MDS and PhD degrees from the University of Hong Kong. He has also received specialty memberships (in Paediatric Dentistry) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2012 and 2014, respectively. He has been admitted as a fellow of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2017. He has extensive teaching experience of Paediatric Dentistry at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Dr Manikandan’s research expertise is in remineralisation of early enamel caries lesions, enamel and dentine adhesion, hypomineralisation, and paediatric oral health. He has published over ~~80~~ 53 papers in international scientific journals. Through his research, he has established a niche in experimental strategies for enhancing dentine bond durability, enhancing bonding to developmentally hypomineralised enamel, studying the remineralisation potential of various contemporary remineralisation agents on early enamel carious lesions. Additionally, his ongoing research projects are aiming at other novel experimental strategies to remineralise such lesions.

Dr Manikandan has ongoing research collaborations with The University of Hong Kong and University of Western Australia. His research interest also includes prevention and management of early childhood caries
