Bart van den Dries obtained his first teaching experience as a student TA for a variety of courses in both mathematics and physics. After obtaining his PhD in mathematics, he worked as a trainer of high school teachers in mathematics.

He is currently a lecturer in mathematics at Delft University of Technology, providing courses in calculus, linear algebra, differential equations and complex analysis at nearly all university departments. He was also involved in the development of the MOOC Pre-University Calculus.

Marleen Keijzer

Marleen Keijzer is assistant professor at the Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Delft University of Technology. She is responsible for a first-year course: Mathematical Modeling. Marleen loves teaching and gives many other courses and practicals at the university in differential equations, calculus, linear algebra, numerical analysis and presentation skills.

Marleen has supervised many students in their BSc, MSc and PhD research projects in applied mathematics. Recently, many of these projects were on radiotherapy treatment planning in cooperation with the Erasmus Medical Center Cancer Institute in Rotterdam.

Her own PhD project was on calculations of how laser light distributes in human tissues. For that project, she worked in four places: the Erasmus Medical Center Cancer Institute in Rotterdam, the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and finally the Delft Institute of Applied Mathematics.

Niek de Kleijn

Studied mathematical physics and has a PhD from Copenhagen University on non-commutative geometry in particular symmetries in deformation quantization.

Teaching bachelor level mathematics (calculus, linear algebra and probability and statistics) at TU Delft. Teaching exclusively in engineering faculties.

Willem Schouten-Straatman

Willem is a lecturer at TU Delft, primarily focused on Bachelor courses in linear algebra, calculus and differential equations. His passion for teaching started early during his Bachelor’s in mathematics and physics, when he became a tutor and a student assistant. He obtained his PhD at Leiden University, focusing on a special type of differential equation where the spatial variable is discrete, while the temporal variable is continuous.

Iris Smit

Iris is a lecturer in mathematics at the Delft University of Technology. After graduating in Los Angeles, she obtained her PhD at the University of Amsterdam, doing research in complex dynamics. She did a postdoc in Trondheim, Norway.
Iris is a driven and experienced lecturer, providing courses in calculus and linear algebra to engineers of all fields. She specializes in creating and programming of formative and summative exercises.

Johannes Maks

Johannes Maks studied pure and applied mathematics at TU Delft, where he also received his PhD with a thesis on Clifford algebras and generalized Möbius transformations.

He works in Delft as a full-time lecturer in mathematics and has also worked as a research fellow at Hull University in England from 1990 until 1992. He has published several articles on topics in the field of multilinear algebra.
